DAR GOLAN

Born into a family of musicians and artists in the port city of Ashdod, Israel, graphic designer, musician
and creator Dar Golan path to become an artist was paved by a variety of inspirations. At a young age,
Dar demonstrated natural talent for playing the piano, guitar and harmonica and wrote his first song at
the age of eight. As oppose to taking the traditional path and enrolling Dar in a music school, Dar’s
parents decided to allow him to explore his talents independently. And so he did. In 1999, at the age of
15, Dar formed his first musical group with three of his high-school friends. Initially, musical influences
included Green Day and NOFX and the songs were mainly about Dar’s teenage experiences. The band,
‘Stanga’, performed Israel’s biggest stages and received moderate popular success. Joining the Israeli
Defense Force at the age of 18 exposed Dar to reality of the ongoing military conflict in the country and
gave his songwriting a more somber and dark tone. Songs about heartbreak and missing the school bus
gave way to ones criticizing Israeli politicians and the discrimination of the Palestinian population in the
country. In 2007, Stanga signed by NMC, Israel’s largest record company and recorded its first album:
High Costs, Low Benefits. Designing the band’s logos and promotional materials through the years
allowed Dar to develop his graphic design and drawing skills. At first as a service for the band, then for
friends and family, by 2010 Dar’s drawings evolved into an impressive portfolio of visual art work. While
Stanga’s success provided little monetary returns, Dar found that his design skills are a lot more
rewarding. Responding to the wide recognition of his visual art work, such as winning first place at the
first international crowd-based QUAD AWARDS, Dar opened a multidisciplinary studio under his name.
Wishing to focus on raising his children and reduce time away from home, Dar Golan has decided to relocate together with his wife and kids to Berlin, Germany in 2017.

What started as a past time activity and later became a YouTube channel is now the project that takes up the majority of Dar's focus. The Royalty Free project's goal is to allow creators with a limited budget to get free access to a bank of high quality stock music and footage, all created single handedly by Dar himself.

All music and footage are completely free, now royalties, no fees, no hidden or future costs.
